HEY THERE! I'M

Asier Alcaide

'Is life about what you accumulate or how you contribute?'

Hi there, welcome! I'm Asier, a software engineer who loves building things that make a difference. Whether it's architecting data pipelines or developing personal projects, I'm always driven by curiosity and the desire to create something useful.

Currently, I'm working as a Data Engineer with 8 years of experience, focusing on building scalable cloud-native solutions that turn complex data into meaningful insights.

About Me

Hello! I'm Asier, a Data Engineer with 8 years of experience in software engineering. Over the last few years, I've specialized in building scalable data architectures and leading cloud-native projects that solve real-world problems.

My journey began with a dual degree in Computer Science and Business Management at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). Since then, I've navigated through various roles—from DevOps and Backend Engineering to my current focus on Data Engineering.

Recently, I've been contributing to a massive cloud migration of billions of rows at Ultra Tendency, leveraging modern technologies like Airflow, PySpark, and Apache Iceberg. Additionally, I have contributed as an independent consultant on a high-impact electricity project, providing comprehensive analytics through cloud-native solutions.

Here are a few technologies I've been working with recently:

  • Python
  • Spark / PySpark
  • SQL / NoSQL
  • Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Terraform / IaC
  • Airflow
  • Kubernetes / Docker
  • Java / Scala
  • Databricks

When I'm not at my desk, I'm usually out exploring the mountains, learning about finance and geopolitics, or in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes. I also enjoy working on home renovations and DIY projects 😄
